Too Lazy to Watch TV

Something really needs to be done about what's happening on TV these days. You probably think I mean concerning violence and the lack of anything educational, but no, this is far more serious.

It seems as if we, the TV viewers, are now expected to actually perform tasks! I mean, you'll be all settled in, watching a perfectly demeaning reality show or a game show requiring all known knowledge in the universe or a comedy with many unrelated quick-witted people living together and suddenly, slithering along the bottom of your TV screen are instructions to log in, play along, vote, or register on some dot com website!

It used to be the only instructions I would receive on my TV were severe weather warnings or an announcement from the President stating we were going to war, which might require me to get up off the couch, depending upon what was on next.

I was only too happy to follow these directions, because, you know, they might actually save my life. And wasn't that nice of those TV people to be concerned about my safety to let me know I was in the direct path of a tornado?

But now these same folks have become more annoying and nagging than a Slim-Fast commercial on New Year's Day.

Listen, if I wanted to actually do something I wouldn't be watching TV. I'd be redecorating my home, having a makeover, or working on my relationship with my spouse, all of which I'm perfectly happy to be watching other people on TV do! The fact that I'm watching TV ought to tell you that I don't want to do anything!

So, fair warning TV people, if you continue to pester me with these TV homework assignments, I'm likely to do something drastic. I just might ...zzzzzzz....
